In a society where men have vast properties, have a lot of capital, are the majority in leadership, and perform better academically, (name them), you would think it is male-dominated.
On the other hand, there are more men in prisons; there are more men in the streets; most men are drug users; most men commit suicide; most men die in wars…
Women today are advantaged from political positions to job opportunities, academically and socially…
Unless the society is tyrannical, we cannot argue that it is patriarchal or matriarchal. The areas that men dominate are competency-based while most communities if not all, are patriarchal to some degree.
With all these considered, do you think society today is majorly patriarchal?
Patriarchal society is a male dominated society, the men dominate in terms of power, leadership inheritance etc. In society our today we can say that even though we have made some milestones, it is still patriarchal .
Patriarchal society is a society where the dominant decision makers are males. Our society from the beginning has been extensively patriarchal. Women have tried to come up with ways to balance this by taking up several male dominated roles, getting involved in decision making processes directly and campaigning for equity but still our society remains patriarchal to a greater percentage despite all the efforts.
perhaps because men are an average, stronger than women, it’s tempting to think that this is the natural state of affairs since men are more likely than women to hold positions of social economic and political power in vast majority of cultures. Though is also correct to admit the fact that in modern culture and society, the idea of patriarchy is not as accepted or practiced as it once was decades ago.
A patriarchal society is one that the male council has an absolute authority over the other members of the community.
