What toll has the pandemic taken on you?

  • 0

Given the current situation with the pandemic looming now more than ever, a lot of individuals have most certainly been affected, some in more adverse ways than others.

It has become quite a grim time to be alive. As though that wasn’t enough, the police forces all over have unleashed their hand of brute force on the general public in the name of upholding the law.

They’re killing, with no afterthought, from children to husbands, to wives, to fathers, to brothers, to sisters to mothers. Just recently in the Coastal region, a policeman was caught after raping a woman who was seeking help at the police station.

He took advantage of her situation and got her to go to his house with him, playing the good samaritan, then raped her as though she was an object at his pleasure and disposal. It is very saddening to see, listen to, witness, experience, and live through such obscenities.

Hence, my question to you is, how have you been affected by anything happening now, good or bad? And what did it drive you to do?

Its so sad what other people are experiencing. The homelessness, the joblessness, the struggle to put a meal on the table, the rape cases…..urgh! I count myself lucky for still having a job despite the fact that the cash flow has gone down. That said, we have changed our lifestyles. Definitely. We eat sparingly and when we do, we consider the cost and purchase only what’s necessary. Everyone including kids has learned to ask for what they need and not what they want, we walk more and board cars/matatus less, the luxuries of life have basically been done away with. On the other hand, I am now more receptive to income-generating ideas. Fingers crossed that it all works out for the better for everyone.
