How do you deal with loneliness?

  • 3

I am just thinking out loud. Anytime I have tough feelings, I use music to escape and eventually deal with them. For people who don’t write, how do you deal with loneliness?

Lonely is an Afro-ElectroPop song that has an uplifting instrumental but contrasting lyrics about a relationship that’s over before it’s ‘officially’ over.

I used to engage in other things like music, hang out with friends, go outing and even taking long walks… in the end I still ended up feeling the same. So I learnt to allow myself feel lonely.. sunk in that state accepting it… I started having conversations with myself with the 3Ws why am I feeling lonely? What caused it? Who is responsible? ME! So I chair the meeting with different kinds of me, the funny one, the strict one, the arrogant one until we conclude the situation is not worth feeling so and we move on.
I learnt how to make myself my own company🥰.. I can be boring to everyone but myself. it’s like I found the other me and that me entertains me more than I can entertain anyone. So I’d say, allow yourself feel lonely without looking for channels to which you distract yourself from it, especially if they don’t work like my walk n all.
And finding God, helped even much cz I’m always in communication over the pettiest and non issues in my life to God. so I’m never lonely🤭

Art, Nature, Outdoor experiences and learning new things does it for me. Music tops my list though…different genres for different moods.

Dealing with loneliness? Yes, it’s always tough, but I always take sometime off, to be alone or be somewhere I know no one.
I travel for long distances, eat a lot of junk, hang out in a new restaurant alone. Just recently I discovered spending time in a swimming pool helps a lot too.
Apparently, most people prefer listening to music, I’m opposite. This does not help me at all.

I used to think music alone would do it for me or that maybe if I binge watched my favourite movies i’d get over that feeling soon enough. Thing is, none of this things ever worked and if they did it would be temporarily. Personally, loneliness has a way of making me feel a number of things. There times when I get so emotional that I even cry. I learned to let myself feel this things, accepted that for me to get through it, I needed to experience it and remind myself that it is a phase that will pass. Everytime I hit rock bottom, I write myself letter that’s pretty much like having a conversation with myself expressing how I feel and to simply remind myself that it’s going to get better.

I am a very introverted person and even the few friends I had told me I don’t know how to involve with people. what they don’t know is that every time am alone I spend time reading novels and I also love dancing. each time I feel stressed out I put on some music and dance the shit out of me. it’s super helpful

Making new connections or trying to open with new people but you must be careful not to compare yourself with others because loneliness comes as a result of life changes
