What's your take on the Housing Levy?

The issue around affordable and dignified housing in Kenya is long overdue. By all means it’s a noble venture but at the same time I understand the judiciary issuing a court order to halt the project until all the i’s are dotted and t’s crossed. There’s also the question of integrity in regards to the president and his cronies, public trust is at an all time low and rightfully so. What is your take on the whole housing levy issue?

  1. From as long ago as the people of Kibera were promised better housing through a high-rise project, that has since stalled then failed, there has always been a need to do housing right. Politicians will always be against basic human dignity if it threatens thier intdrests and pockets for them.

  1. People need housing subsidies and not levies. The cost of living has sky rocketed and access to shelter as a basic human right is a big issue for thousands of Kenyans.
