What can we learn from Muslims about how to pray?

Apart from fasting during the Holy month of Ramadan, prayer in Islam is a daily ritual performed 5 times a day in a repeated cycle of bows and prostration as phrases from the Quran are recited.

The 5 daily prayer times, practiced with full attention and devotion along with physical ablution clensing, have been admired and borrowed by other cultures and religions. How has the obligation around the islam prayer ritual survived for thousands of years and what can we learn from it?
