What version of songs do you prefer?

Most songs we listen to are usually the media friendly versions. They are often redacted and cleaned for general public and prime time media.

In addition to these edited versions, some artists also release both an explicit and clean version of the same record.

These redacted or edited versions are what is shared publicly and usually what we end up hearing on radio, seeing on TV or watching on YouTube.

One disadvantage of these redacted versions is that they don’t always convey the original feeling and message that the artist intended.

In spite of this, they are the default versions that are pushed in marketing and publicity campaigns so they end up being the default known versions.

Many people are content with the edited versions while others prefer getting the original hard core versions. Which one are you?

  1. Musicians and producers put extra effort to make the original/official version really good so it may appeal to the large audience it is meant for. This makes it much more better than the underground explicit version or the media edit that is cleaned up.
