Joan Kubai (10+ Min House Tour) – Does her parent’s palatial Runda home accurately represent corruption and inequality in Kenya? Although Kenyan’s responded with memes at Joan Kubai viral tour of her parent’s palatial Runda home, there’s so much that is not being said about the real reactions.
When Joan Kubai chose to entertain her Snapchat fans with a complete tour in her parents 6 bedroom Palatial Runda Manson in Nairobi, she wasn’t thinking of the challenges facing Kenyan’s, especially during a life-threatening epidemic.
It is not her responsibility anyway… it is okay to be rich but flaunting it during a national pandemic when people outside your door are literary dying may have been overkill.
Judging from the reactions online, she may be a victim of cyberbullying. Normally, such a thing would arouse anger, but her parents should be careful with her especially during this hard period.
Let’s talk about basic etiquette, during the virtual tour, Joan Kubai took her followers through every room in the house except for her parents’ bedroom. What happened to moderation, especially when you are in a position of privilege?
Just a young girl unaware of the realities of social media and the injustice of poverty which is inherited by most Kenyan’s at birth. This house tour was an eye-opener to how disconnected the rich are from reality.
Is showed us just how much unnecessary things the rich accumulate while the poor can barely survive. People are literary being kicked out of other houses daily. Others committing suicide because of the impact of Coronavirus.
Even with all the privilege, this was probably not the right time to share the video.
Kenyans on twitter watched in disbelief as she entertained her viewers on Snapchat with a tour around the Runda mansion. Kenyans made meme comparisons between the Kubai mansion and their own bedsitters and rental apartments.
Ironically, Joan was surprised to find herself trending on Twitter. She enjoyed it and even responded to people’s reactions. While this happened, the famous KOT detectives made it apparent that Joan Kubai is the daughter of city tycoons Peter Macharia Kubai and Isabella Wairimu Kubai.
Soon, Joan ran back to social media (as if not having learned already) with another video requesting people to respect her privacy and delete all video reposts.
Joan is the granddaughter of late veteran Fred Kubai who was among the Kapenguria six members. Her parent’s names, Isabella Kubai and Peter Kubai will never come up during community support initiatives or fights against injustice despite their access to wealth and resources. The rich and corrupt don’t like mingling with the poor who remind them of inequality and injustice.
Her father, Peter Kubai has been a Senior Manager at Airtel Kenya, Pan Africa Insurance, Equity Bank Limited, and Nairobi Bottlers. An article by Daily Nation from December 2019, Joan’s parents are connected to Benisa Limited as joint directors.
Benisa Limited is at the center of two separate investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) into Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria’s alleged violation of the public procurement law and ghost projects in the county.
What the rich don’t seem to know is that even if they had 10,000 bedrooms you can only sleep in one. All the extra fluff is vanity and just a chase after the wind.
