Are we witnessing the final collapse of the American led capitalist empire?

  • 3

George Floyd’s murder by a policeman live on video has triggered nationwide protests across America. This is on top of over 100,000 COVID 19 deaths and 40 million jobless Americans.

Across Europe, the COVID 19 devastation is also unprecedented both in terms of human life and economic cost. China’s destiny is up in the air… it could rise to be the only superpower, or it could go down with the west.

The financial markets are yoyoing as speculators cash in but are not in tandem with the economic reality across the globe. Most industries, including entertainment and sports, and even philanthropy especially to African NGOs are unlikely to recover any time soon.

The neoliberal experiment has caused untold suffering across the planet including the collapse of most social services provision.

This is all happening while we have a clueless leader and his administration in the White House. Is this the end of the old order?

It already collapsed and great marketing has been keeping it afloat. We need to accept that democracy is broken and it may be time to rethink and adapt new governance structures.

The global balance has been tested quite a lot over the past couple of years. If this is a natural reaction to the state of things or a planned new world order, the full impact can only be known after the possible transition.
