African Music Traditionally, music has played a very important role in Africa’s culture and history. If you observe any part of the culture you can see that music is essential in representing their heritage. Unlike most cultures today, ancient African cultures brought music into their lives every day. Music also helps with African story-telling, dance, and even religious practices. Music is especially important for African dance because in some cultures there is not even a spoken language, they tell their stories through songs and dance. When discussing the impact of music in Africa it is important to also mention the power of dance as well.
