Grade 3 learners studying the new competency-based curriculum launched this year will now be subjected to a national assessment before proceeding to the next level. KNEC announced that learners will be subjected to a test called Kenya Early Years Assessment. What is Your Take on this?
Keeping in mind that Kenya has become an exam-oriented Nation where we value the results of an exam more than actually the Knowledge acquired in the schools, do you think this is okay? Is this also good for the children’s mental health?
The Competency Based Curriculum is a good initiative to the Kenyan Education programme except that some things need to be considered. It is very good to a student but is costly to the parent and also the government. Much is needed from the parents and considering this hard economy, parents cannot afford the books, writing materials, practical materials among others. The government is not ready to fund the construction of new classrooms among other expenses required of them
