Politics refers to almost any activity associated with government. Political activity with regard to campaigns usually revolves around issues. Popular political issues include:
Taxes
Medical Care
International relations
Social Security
Civil Rights
Crime
Education
The Environment
Corruption
There are many political issues that are not directly related to campaigns. One example is lobbying. Once political leaders acquire their office, they immediately become the target of lobbyists. Lobbyists are professionals who try to influence political leaders in order to get them to support the lobbyists’ positions. Lobbyists are generally paid for their work, and they work at the federal, state, and local levels.
Politics to me is a game in which the leaders are the players while we the ordinary citizens are spectators.
