Is it Possible to have an Afrikan identity?

  • 2

We constantly hear this and that is ‘Afrikan’, but what does it mean to be Afrikan where we have 55 countries with very diverse identities and cultures. Besides being on the same landmass what do we have in common that we can be referred to as one?

I cannot think of anything other than the fact that we are all from the same continent. Our physiques vary from region to region, our complexions have a wide range, our languages differ, and so do our accents, our experiences differ based on where we come from and the leaders governing us…. is there really anything else binding or defining us?
