Today I learned about family therapy and care giving. It was enlightening to reflect on the power of going through therapy as a family, imagining how life changing that’d be for many of us.
I saw also how in the family space as it is in any other place, one person’s actions affects another in all aspects. It is more intense at home because we’re emotionally invested in each other, and so it is prudent to be conscious of the weight of the intersectionality between personal independence and communal responsibility.
I imagined how difficult it would be to start those hard conversations together; mum, dad, and siblings. Our fathers allowing themselves to be vulnerable before us concerning our painful pasts and their understanding of love. And what it would be like listening to the thoughts of the youngest child of the family on their experience concerning a matter that bothered them at home.
I guess this should be happening in our homes but it isn’t. We grow up wild like weeds barely mastering a language of expression to our kin.
Its high time, we all take this into consideration .Family therapy helps when it comes to people expressing themselves emotionally,it brings about a sense of belonging and it tends to be very therapeutic.
Don’t tell anyone until it’s necessary
Nothing brings out unwanted opinions more than decisions you make about your personal relationship. If this is the case with your friends and family, you may want to keep your reconciliation private until you are sure it is.
Jumping into a reconciliation will confuse your children and extended family if you are not certain that you are staying together. There is no need to put your family through another separation if you are only just flirting with the idea of getting back together.
