Since Abiy Ahmed attacked Tigray a lot has happened in Ethiopia. Refugees are pouring into Sudan in drives, no humanitarian aid has been allowed in the area until yesterday, and the media can’t report accurately on it because of disinformation. It’s obvious how this is going to affect Sudan, but I don’t think it’s obvious how it affects us, as humans and Kenyans. Ethiopia is part of AMISOM, which was formed to fight Al Shaabab. Trump is already withdrawing troops all over the world, Ethiopia needs it’s troops… Do you see why that’s bad?
This is already a humanitarian crisis, we can’t afford for it to get worse. If not for the thousands of people who are losing their entire lives weekly, then for the Horn and entire East Africa.
When there is a civil war in a country, it will not only have implications for the state in question , but also to the neighbouring countries. Civil war in Ethiopia is likely to have effects in neighbouring countries like Kenya, Eritrea, and Sudan as refugees from Ethiopia travel to seek refuge, in the neighbouring countries. In addition to this, civil war is likely to act as safe heaven for terrost group like Alshabab because of the instability in the country. Civii war in Ethiopia will lead to poverty in the country, when there is a civil war in a country, there is no growth nor development hence population will have nothing to feed on hence high level of poverty.
There is a likelihood [of] hundreds of thousands, if not millions of refugees, flocking into Kenya.
The longer the war takes the higher the likelihood that rebel groups in neighboring nations will want to overthrow their governments as well.
