Abdi, a thug who was captured on CCTV cameras robbing a shop at gun point in Buruburu was killed last night by the infamous Hesy wa Kayole. Few people seem to care that a life was taken and lean towards the ‘one less evil person roaming the streets’ reasoning. Why do we accept this when due diligence hasn’t been followed? Isn’t that what the justice system is for? Arresting and charging criminals with actual evidence? What do you think? Are we just going to sit back as this rogue cop goes around shooting people?

There’s really no honest or sure way to answer this question. On one side, someone who lives in the crime ravaged neighbourhoods can see it as the only solution and view your sentiments as elitist. I have read instances where these thugs are arrested then released a day after only to go back to ruining lives. In most cases, these crooks work in cahoots with the cops soo it’s a somewhat sensitive matter.
I completely understand that people want such people ‘removed’ from their communities. And they will accept that whether the person is dead or alive. I would do that too if I was in their shoes. But I have to question how many actual innocent lives are lost in this. I saw a BBC documentary noting that 15-18yr olds are also getting killed through association. Rogue cops will kill you just because you know something that they don’t want known. I just hope at some point cops follow procedure and charge such people because that’s the law. Killing people point blank however, isn’t.
I totally get that. I personally know victims of these rogue antics -death by association-. There’s just something fundamentally flawed with the recruitment, training and the essence of being a public defender as a cop. Strange enough, I don’t know any case where people failed police academy.. I mean…

The Elephant – Speaking truth to power.
It is because we have changed the meaning of “extrajudicial killing” to mean only instances where innocent people are involved as victims. We are forgetting that even offenders have rights like the rest of us.
