It is well known that children perform better when they are having fun and being playful stimulates their minds and critical thinking skills. With that said, What is being done to incorporate play in learning at schools..? To fuse the normal day to day learning routine with a little bit of play..? What steps are taken to do this..?
Homeschooling maybe but the mainstream education is all about grades even the students or pupils do not want fun. During P.E., free lessons, weekends, and holidays they are just reading. I wonder if they ever enjoy their childhood. It’s too much stress on them.
EDUTAINMENT: This is a concept I have always admired. Many people loose their creativity once they join school because of the rigid system that discourages expression and creativity.
With play incorporated into the curriculum, learners can increase their knowledge retention capacity and enjoy the process of learning at the same time.
A little bit of this can be found in Montessori schools but our African traditional learning structure was even more superior and effective. We need to update it and incorporate it in the current day educational curriculum.
I have friends who have talked about Home Schooling. This can be another alternative to mainstream learning and you also have the freedom to improvise and customize the education process based on what fits your child’s learning style.
I must warn that it is labour intensive, requires much more expenses than regular schooling and takes up more time. It is thus more convenient for the rich and upper class who are the minority.
Ironically, most of these elite people who can afford customized learning do not care much about it. So, it is never used and that’s why the few who use it end up paying through their nose to cover the costs for everyone else who can’t.
